It’s been an exciting start to September: warm weather, MPavilion 2016 is making stunning progress, and now, architectural prizes! MPavilion architect Sean Godsell has snapped-up the jury-decided DETAIL Prize 2016—we are extremely happy and proud of Sean Godsell’s wonderful work. The prize is awarded to future-oriented, innovative and pioneering projects from different disciplines that have outstanding architectural and technical qualities. Congratulations to Sean Godsell Architects! In case you have not yet met, DETAIL is an influential, cutting-edge architecture magazine out of Germany.

Awarded for the seventh time, the aim of the award is to strengthen architecture in public debate. The jury members Peter Ippolito (Ippolito Fleitz Group), Gilles Retsin (Gilles Retsin Architecture), Mike Schlaich (schlaich bergermann partner), Enrique Sobejano (Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos) and Daniel Lischer (alp architektur lischer partner ag) chose this year’s prize-winners from 337 submissions from 42 countries. The judges were looking for realisations in which the overall design concept and the detailing were brought together in a coherent way.

Second place in the jury’s decision went to Brandlhuber+Emde, Burlon / Riegler Riewe Architekten for their project St. Agnes in Berlin. In third place, Morger Partner Architekten for their project Hilti Art Foundation / Huber Uhren Schmuck in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.

Right now you also have the opportunity to help decide who wins the DETAIL magazine reader’s choice award, one that—we gratefully announce—Sean Godsell’s MPavilion 2014 is also nominated for. Between 1 September and 14 October 2016 you can vote online for your favourite out of 13 jury-nominated projects. For more information, and to register your all-important vote, visit DETAIL online here.

As a gift to the City of Melbourne, Sean Godsell’s MPavilion 2014 has a permanent home at Melbourne’s Hellenic Museum. Visit the Hellenic Museum’s website for opening hours.
