Tania Cañas

Tania is Melbourne-based arts professional with experience in performance, cultural development, events, communication and research. She is currently a research candidate at the Centre for Cultural Partnerships at The University of Melbourne, and a member of the Editorial Board at the International Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Journal/PTO Inc.

Her research focuses on theatre as a site of resistance, as self-actualisation and self-determination and has presented at conferences both nationally and internationally. For the last year Tania has been working with RISE and NMIT to develop a series of theatre workshops with students who are recent migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
